The Chorus an important part of Girls State and here we see citizens trying out for singing parts.  Listening attentively, delegates learn more about party politics and campaign strategy.  One of the workshops on Monday dealt with learning more about becoming governor, lieutenant governor and members of the cabinet.  Learning about campaign platform formation is an important part of the election process.  BGS citizens learn more about the functions of the Legislature during the workshops.  Dr. Peter Schramm, Professor of Political Science at AU and Executive Director of the Ashbrook Center, takes the opportunity to tell the delegates about the seminar being offered to them this week. The course is "Principles and Practices of Freedom in American Politics.  Awaiting their turn for lunch, a group of delegates take some time to pose for the camera!  New friends are made each day at BGS, even when standing in the lunch line.  There is always good food to eat throughout the week!  Members of the Federalist Party cast their votes during the County Party Caucus in order to elect a county chairman and endorse a state chairman.  Here we see members of the Nationalist Party await their opportunity to vote during the County Party Caucus in order to elect a county chairman and endorse a state chairman.  During the State Party Caucus, citizens of the Nationalist party cast their votes.  The young ladies elected, within their cities, as City Central Committeewomen are introduced during the Federalist State Party Caucus.
