Photographs ![]() Welcome to the 2003 Buckeye Girls State Session ![]() Ashland University's Myers Convocation Center awaits the arrival of the 2003 Girls State delegates. ![]() Staff members take time to enjoy and gain strength from a delicious meal at the Accent Room. ![]() BGS Coordinator gives instructions to the wonderful ladies from all over Ohio, who volunteered to come to Ashland University and help with the registration of arriving delegates. ![]() An arch was transported across Claremont Avenue in Ashland, Ohio to greet the arriving delegates. ![]() Public Relations Director, Patty Williams, places the arch out in front of Kates Gymnasium with the assistance of Paul, a Myers Convocation Center set up crewmember. ![]() An auxiliary unit from the Ohio State Highway Patrol directs an arriving delegate and their family members. ![]() During registration, delegates also must stop by the Nurses Table to provide medical information. ![]() BGS staff directs the delegates to their assigned housing. ![]() Sunday afternoon the newly arrived delegates spent time getting to know the other members of their assigned City. They also went on a campus exploration to familiarize themselves with the campus. ![]() Preparing for the Official Opening, staff members readied the color guard to present and post the American flag and the Buckeye Girls State flag. ![]() Girls State provided each delegate with an American Flag at the opening session. Enthusiastic young women from across Ohio prepared to become official BGS citizens at the mock naturalization ceremony. ![]() 2003 Buckeye Girls State Director, Desiree Stoy, addresses the 878 delegates attending the 57th session. ![]() Ashland University President Dr. Benz welcomed the delegates to Ashland's campus and challenged each to participate, learn, and experience what Girls State has to offer. ![]() American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Ohio, President Sharon Miller, welcomed the delegates and staff members.
